The Asociacion de Caficultores de Colombia (ACC) is a farmer non-profit association created in 2016 in Piendamó, Cauca. The purpose of the association has always been improving coffee quality, all the way from the crop to the commercialisation of the coffee. Improving these aspects has a social impact on the region; improving the wellbeing of farmer families, taking care of the environment and trying to find peace in their territory.
ACC has 77 associates with an average of 1.5ha of land that ranges between 1700 and 2100masl. It helps members with commercial strategies and crop related technology; although every member has the chance to decide how to process their coffee with innovative fermentations.
The association rents a storage facility in Piendamó, right next to the coffee purchase centre. In this facility there is a coffee laboratory that has all the equipment needed for coffee selection and cupping which is done by a Q-Grader.
El Silencio
Robinson Rivera Muelas is a coffee grower from Piendamó, Cauca. His farm, El Silencio, is situated in the vereda (village) of El Agrado at an altitude of 1740masl.
He has been a member of the local growers association ACC since 2016, where he serves as a founding partner and legal representative. His involvement with the association allows him to both share knowledge and improve processes for small producers in the region.
Washed Process
Using a very ripe coffee, the beans are selected and qualified according to density (floating method), then it is left for an oxidation period in cherry of 8 hours. It is then pulped and left overnight and washed in the morning after around 14 to 16 hours, depending on the condition of the mucilage. Finally, it is moved to a parabolic drying system for around 4 to 6 days or until target moisture is reached.

Foremost, we choose to supply beans. After 15 minutes the aromas of ground coffee are gone. We can grind on request, but it is not something we offer as standard. More info you can find on our blog!
